AI-assisted translation with built-in safety checks, an MCP server for your AI assistant, and a visual Form Preview for translators.
TsiLang Components Suite 7.9.12 is now available, introducing AI-assisted translation workflows, an MCP server for AI integration, and visual Form Preview in SIL Editor.
This release helps developers translate applications faster using their preferred AI assistant while keeping control over translation data and validation. It also gives translators something they have often lacked: visual context.
AI-Assisted Translation Inside TsiLang Expert
Localizing large applications often means dealing with thousands of strings spread across many forms. TsiLang 7.9.12 can now help automate much of that work.
The new AI Tools tab in TsiLang Expert lets you fill missing translations in selected forms or across an entire project using:
- Claude Code
- Claude Desktop
- Codex
- Cursor
- VS Code with GitHub Copilot
- Gemini CLI
- Custom assistant configurations
1Select forms
Pick the forms you want to process, or the whole project.
2Choose your assistant
Launch it interactively with a prebuilt prompt, or run supported assistants in the background and watch a log window.
3Review changes
The Expert shows the proposed changes in a review window before anything is imported.
4Load or Undo
Existing translations remain untouched, and Undo restores the previous state if needed.
A new AI Assistants options page helps discover, configure, and test installed assistants and manage custom integrations.
The Assistant Translates. TsiLang Guards the Process.
Using AI to generate translations is useful only if the results can be controlled and validated. Every AI workflow in TsiLang goes through silcli, which validates proposed translations before they reach your forms.
TsiLang automatically checks important localization details such as:
Placeholders
%s, %d, and the like must survive translation.
Accelerator keys
The & marks stay in place.
Line breaks
The number of line breaks matches the source.
Consistency
Other translation consistency rules are checked as well.
Only missing translations are filled. Existing translations are never overwritten. If a single value fails the checks, nothing is written.
The goal is simple: let AI do the repetitive work while TsiLang protects the integrity of your localization files.
Connect Any MCP-Compatible AI Assistant
TsiLang 7.9.12 includes a built-in MCP server through the new silcli mcp command. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard way for AI assistants to use external tools, so any MCP-capable assistant can work with TsiLang translation data through a controlled workflow.
Key safeguards include:
- Access is limited to folders you explicitly authorize.
- Only empty translation entries can be filled, and existing translations are preserved.
- Generated translations are validated before import.
- Import is a two-step action: the assistant first shows a preview, and after your confirmation the translations are written with a backup and a read-back check.
- You can switch writing off completely (
--no-import) or allow read access only (--read-only).
Setup takes one command. silcli ai init configures your assistant, shows what it would change before changing anything, and keeps a backup of every file it touches.
The accompanying AI Toolkit provides setup instructions, configuration examples, and a sample project to help you get started quickly.
Privacy. While AI assistants may communicate with their own providers, silcli itself performs no telemetry and makes no network calls. Your texts reach a third party only through your own assistant and its provider, exactly as if you pasted them into it.
Give Translators Visual Context
Translators often receive isolated strings such as Open, Close, Apply, or Save without knowing where those texts appear in the application. The new Form Preview in SIL Editor solves this problem.
For the currently selected string, SIL Editor can display:
- The form where the string appears
- The exact control containing the text
- A visual highlight of the selected string
- A size indicator showing whether the translation fits the available space
OK
The translation comfortably fits.
Tight
Close to the available limit.
Too Long
Likely to cause layout problems.
This visual feedback helps translators make better decisions and catch issues before testing.
Translators do not need an IDE installed. Developers generate the layout information with the new Export Layout wizard in TsiLang Expert, which creates a .silui layout file that can be distributed alongside translation files.
Additional Improvements in 7.9.12
This release also includes a number of enhancements throughout the suite:
Translation Hot-Reload
Reload external .SIL and .SIB translation files in running VCL and FireMonkey applications without restarting the application.
Check Sync
Compare external translation files against current form data and quickly identify differences before shipping.
Dictionary Validation
Validate dictionaries across all languages and detect issues involving placeholders, accelerators, line breaks, whitespace, and other localization details.
Translation Memory
Work with individual languages, reload updated memories, and optionally replace existing translations from translation memory data.
silcli 2.0
New capabilities for exporting, filling, validating, importing, and verifying form translations, for easier automation and CI integration.
Fixes and refinements
Usability improvements and fixes across TsiLang Expert, SIL Editor, Dictionary Manager, Translation Editor, VCL, and FireMonkey support.
