View options in SilEditor

Post by Jean-Paul Brassard »

When I open a SIB in SilEditor, it show a list of forms in the left pane.
For each form, one can select a property to see all component that have this property.
The right pane then shows a list "ComponentName", i.e. the components in that form that have that property.
The search tool only looks in the list of the currently selected "Form/Property" pair.

On the other hand, with SIL, the SilEditor behave differently.
The left pane is a list of all properties found in any form of the project.
When one selects a given property, he gets all components that have it.
The right pane then shows a list of "FormName.ComponentName" with their translations.
The search tool looks in all the components of the currently selected property.

How can I ask SilEditor to show a SIB file in the second way (as the SIL files). I found no option to do that.

I need that to help the translator finding any given string in the SIB File.
As he do not know the "Name" of the forms or Units, it would be easier for him to do a global search instead of trying to find it by opening hundreds of Forms.

This is not possible. SIL and SIB files have different structures and views. BUT you can always use Find & Replace Globally. This will let you to search (and replace) any term globally in whole SIB file as well.
